Kokoro

Originally defined in Japanese as the beat of the heart, the word Kokoro (pronounced KOko-ro) has come to mean the ‘Centre of Life’, encompassing many connotations including emotion, mind, courage, sentiment, affection, intention, and inner meaning. For us, the word Kokoro signifies not only our desire to express as an ensemble the passion and soul of each piece we sing, but also reflects our relationship with each other and our founder, Brenda Uchimaru. We are pleased to present the kanji (the symbol or character) of Kokoro as the logo for our choir, and to adopt Kokoro as our official name as of 2010.
